Javelina Jundred

Fort McDowell, United States • 31-1 Oct-Nov 2026

Event Overview

The Javelina Jundred is an ultramarathon event held on Halloween weekend in McDowell Mountain Regional Park near Fountain Hills, Arizona. It is described as the original costumed 100-mile trail run party, with races taking place on a rolling single-track course primarily on the Pemberton Trail. The event includes a 100-mile, 100K, and a 31K "Jackass Night Trail" race.

Distances

  • 100 Miles with a 30-hour cutoff. This race is a 2027 Western States 100 qualifier. Finishers under 30 hours receive a finisher's belt buckle, and those finishing under 24 hours receive a larger buckle. It is also a Western States 100 Golden Ticket race for the top two male and female finishers.
  • 100K (62 Miles) with a 29-hour cutoff. Finishers receive a belt buckle.
  • 31K (19 Miles) with an 8.5-hour cutoff. This is a night race designed to offer the Javelina experience on a single loop.

Course Details

The main course is a series of loops on trails within McDowell Mountain Regional Park, including the Pemberton, Shallmo, Cinch, and Escondido trails. The terrain consists of rolling hills, sandy washes, and desert singletrack with minimal shade. The longest distance between aid stations is 6.5 miles.

Four aid stations are located on each loop: Javelina Jeadquarters (start/finish), Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. They provide water, ice, Gatorade, GU gels, a variety of snacks, and prepared meals, including vegan-friendly options.

Participant Support

Crew access is allowed only at the Javelina Jeadquarters start/finish area, where reserved crew canopy spaces are available. Pacers are permitted for the 100-mile race after completing three loops or at sunset, and for the 100K after two loops or at sunset. Pacers must be on foot and can only join or be dropped off at Javelina Jeadquarters.

The event is cupless, so runners must bring their own containers. Runners can use drop bags at the start/finish and at the Jackass Junction aid station. Tent camping, RV camping, and car camping are available at the venue by reservation.

Registration and Awards

Registration opens on January 1. Entry is limited to 1000 runners for the 100-mile, 500 for the 100K, and 325 for the 31K. In addition to finisher buckles, handmade Dia de los Muertos themed awards are given to top finishers. Other awards include categories like Best Costume and Best Team Finish.
