Event Overview
Thrasher Night Trail is a night trail running event with four distance options: 5K, 11K, 22K, and 33K. It is part of the Insomniac Night Series and takes place at Cave Creek Regional Park in Cave Creek, Arizona. The event is held the night before the Cave Creek Thriller Trail runs.
The course uses desert trails, specifically the Slate, Quartz, Go John, and Overton Trails. It consists of single-track with rolling terrain and two climbs per loop. The 22K and 33K distances are multi-loop courses that pass the start/finish line after each loop.
Race Details
Distances offered are:
- 5K (approximately 3.6 miles)
- 11K (approximately 6.8 miles)
- 22K (approximately 14 miles)
- 33K (approximately 20.5 miles)
All races share a common course loop and have a total cutoff time of midnight. Aid stations are provided, including a main station at the start/finish and a remote station on the course. The aid stations offer water, ice, electrolyte drinks, salty and sweet snacks, fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bean rollups, and hot food like quesadillas and grilled cheese.
Crew access is permitted only at the start/finish area. Pacers are not allowed for any distance. A drop bag area is available at the start/finish. A $10 per vehicle park entry fee is in effect.
Additional Information
Race perks include a finish line photo, chip-timed results, aid station access, and a finisher award. A unique custom medal is available for runners who complete both Thrasher Night Trail and the following day's Cave Creek Thriller event, known as the "Double Down."
A medical team is on-site during the event. The event is cupless, so runners must bring their own reusable cup or purchase one. Pets are not allowed on the course but may be at the event if leashed and supervised. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
