Insomniac Night Series
The Insomniac Night Trail Run Series is a collection of six night runs held between April and September. These events take place throughout the Maricopa County Regional Parks in Arizona, allowing participants to experience desert trails under the moonlight or stars. The series is designed to avoid the summer heat by shifting the racing schedule to the nighttime hours.
The series includes six distinct events:
- Sinister
- Adrenaline
- Hypnosis
- Stunner
- Vertigo
- Jangover
Course distances across the series range from 5 km to 75 km. While some routes utilize segments found in daytime trail series, the majority of the courses are specifically selected to offer a different experience from their daytime counterparts.
Participants can choose from various series passes that bundle the races together based on distance categories. These include the Jitters Pass for shorter distances typically ranging from 6 km to 10 km, and the Delirium Pass for longer efforts of approximately 50 km to 54 km per race. There is also an Evolution Pass where distances increase progressively at each event throughout the season.
The series features a points system where runners are ranked based on their three best scores out of the six races. Points are calculated as a ratio of the winner's time to the participant's time. Top finishers in each pass category are eligible for specific awards and race credits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
