Jackass Night Trail (31K)
Jackass Night Trail is a night-only, single-loop option run on the Javelina Jundred course inside McDowell Mountain Regional Park near Fountain Hills, Arizona. The route follows the same loop used by Javelina Jundred and passes the four on-course aid stations: Javelina Jeadquarters (start/finish), Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. The aid stations are stocked with water, ice, Gatorade, GU gels, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and several prepared food options. The longest gap between aid stations is about 6.5 miles.
The night event emphasizes a festive atmosphere: costumes and glow gear are encouraged and a staffed party area is located at Jackass Junction, roughly ten miles from the finish. Course marking includes orange ribbon with black polka dots, junction ribbons, bright yellow arrow signs, and reflective markers placed for night navigation. The race is part of the broader Javelina weekend and follows the event’s cupless policy, so runners should carry a reusable cup or bottles for refills.
Crewing is allowed only at Javelina Jeadquarters; pacers are not permitted for the 31K. Recommended items include a headlamp, extra batteries, and warm layers for overnight conditions. Race staff may remove participants who interfere with volunteers or other runners; the event environment is rated R and may include explicit music and risqué costumes.
