Event overview

Javelina Jundred is a multi-distance trail running event at McDowell Mountain Regional Park near Fountain Hills, Arizona. Distances offered include:

  • 100 Mile
  • 100K
  • 31K

The event uses the Four Peaks Staging Area (Javelina Jeadquarters) as the start/finish and main aid location. The 100 Mile race serves as a Western States 100 qualifier and is also a Golden Ticket race for automatic entries for top finishers.

Course and support

The course combines desert singletrack, sandy washes, moderate climbs, and scenic views of the McDowell Mountains. The 100 Mile route is made of one 22.3-mile loop plus four 19.45-mile loops; the 100K uses one 22.3-mile loop and three 19.45-mile loops. Key statistics: the 100 Mile course lists about +6,296 feet of elevation gain; the 100K about +3,956 feet; the 31K about +1,164 feet. All distances follow marked routes with orange ribbon, junction signs, and reflective markers at night.

There are four on-course aid stations per loop: Javelina Jeadquarters, Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. The longest stretches without aid are about 6.5 and 6.6 miles; runners are advised to carry sufficient water. The event is cupless; runners must bring their own containers.
