Pass Mountain Trail Runs

The Pass Mountain Trail Run is the second event in the Desert Runner Trail Series. It takes place at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, Arizona, and offers a variety of trail distances on desert terrain. The courses utilize local trails within the park as well as the Tonto National Forest and Goldfield Mountains.

Participants can choose from five primary distances:

  • 50 Mile
  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 10K
  • 5K

The 50 Mile course traverses the Goldfield Mountains, utilizing OHV trails and single track through Bulldog Canyon. It follows the Maricopa Trail and loop trails overlooking the Salt River before climbing the Pass Mountain Saddle. The 50K and 25K routes cover trails through Cholla forests and the Levee Trail, offering views of the Superstition Mountain range and a climb up Pass Mountain. The 10K and 5K distances remain within Usery Mountain Regional Park, winding through Cholla forests and finishing with a climb through Cat Peaks.

The event is a cupless race, meaning runners must bring their own reusable cups. Aid stations are located every 3.0 to 8.6 miles depending on the distance, stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, snacks, and fruit. Participants receive a gender-specific race shirt and access to a post-race charity beer garden. Medical staff and physical therapy services are available on-site.
