Course descriptions note winding desert trails through Usery Mountain Regional Park and sections that cross into the Goldfield Mountains and Tonto National Forest. The 50 mile route includes OHV and single track, Bulldog Canyon wash crossings, a link to the Maricopa Trail, and the Hawes Trail System before a final climb to the Pass Mountain Saddle. Shorter distances loop through cholla forests and offer views of Pass Mountain and the Superstition Mountain range.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 3.0 to 8.6 miles and provide water, electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and fruit. The event is cupless so runners must bring a reusable cup or purchase one onsite. Race services include chip timing with live splits, a gender specific cut race shirt, post race food, a charity beer garden, MedStar Solutions medical staff at the start finish, and course marking with ribbons and signs.
Logistics: the start finish is at the Trailhead Staging Area, 3939 N Usery Pass Rd, Mesa, AZ. Park entry requires a $10 fee per vehicle and some entrants will use shuttle parking.
