Elevation and time limits vary by distance; the 50 Mile route lists substantial elevation gain and a 16 hour overall cutoff.

The event is cupless so participants must bring a reusable cup or purchase one on site. Crew and pacer access, drop bag locations, and cutoff points differ by distance; pacers are allowed only for the 50 Mile at designated aid stations. Remote drop bags are available for the 50 Mile at Usery Aid.

Courses are marked with orange ribbons, reflective medallions, laminated signs, and checkerboard flagging to indicate wrong-way trails.
