ICY-8 event
The ICY-8 is the 18th annual trail running event held at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, VA. The event includes an 8-hour adventure trail run, a half marathon+ and an 8-miler. The half marathon+ runs concurrently with the 8-hour event; participants must complete the half marathon+ loops from largest to smallest and have 6.0 hours to complete that distance. Runners and hikers are welcome. Registration closes on Mon, Feb 2.
Course and format
The course uses a figure 8 layout made of three loop options. The Start/Finish is centralized in the parking area next to the Lake Anna Visitor Center. Approximately 90% of the route is trail and about 10% (approximately 0.4 miles) is a mix of trail and closed paved roads. Trails are single-track and double-track, with over 70% double-track (about 6 ft wide).
Distances and elevation per loop:
- 8.0 miles - 640 ft elevation gain/loss
- 4.7 miles - 350 ft elevation gain/loss
- 1.5 miles - 100 ft elevation gain/loss (final loop only)
