Hungryland Trail Races : West Palm Beach, FL
Hungryland is staged inside Hungryland Slough Natural Area, a 3,000 acre Palm Beach County natural area. The event uses a single loop that measures 14.3 miles and travels through multiple ecosystems including pine flatwoods, prairies, swamps, hammocks, and wetland corridors. The course surface is primarily double-track with dirt roads, packed grassy areas, and softer runnable paths near wetlands. The route is flat with no significant elevation gain.
Two timed race options are offered:
- 33 Hour Jogger Slogger on the 14.3 mile loop
- 6 Hour Runner Gunner on the 14.3 mile loop
The site is environmentally sensitive and entrant capacity is limited (75 entrants). Course conditions are variable and can range from dry and sandy to wet and muddy; the course and the number or location of aid stations may be changed close to race day for safety and access. Aid support includes a full manned station at the start/finish, a full staffed station with drop bag access roughly mid-loop, and additional unmanned water and fuel stations so runners will not be more than about 3 to 4 miles from some form of aid. Runners should carry personal hydration and nutrition between aid stations.
Race rules note that only fully completed loops count toward placement. If a runner starts a loop and does not finish it, that runner will be recorded as DNF and will not receive credit for prior loops. Pacers are permitted to join at dusk for 100 mile competitors and any Jogger Sloggers still running. Refunds, deferrals, and transfer rules are specified in the event policy with a refund cutoff date listed for prior-year registrations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
