Hayfield May Queen Fell Race

The May Queen fell race is a village fell race held in mid May as part of the Hayfield May Queen festivities. Registration and the start are at the Scout Hut (grid reference SK035872). The course includes the summit of Lantern Pike and covers approximately 2.9 miles with about 660 ft of climb.

The event is organised under Fell Runners Association rules. Juniors aged 12 and over may enter the senior race under those rules; there is no separate race for children under 12. Runners under 18 must either be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or produce a completed FRA parental consent form.

Entry is on the day only. Entry fees are modest with seniors charged £5 and juniors aged 12 to 18 charged £1. The race is listed among other local fell events for the Hayfield area and is part of the local championship series options.

Facilities and further practical details for the Hayfield May Queen festivities are managed locally at the event. The race is described as a short village fell race that follows standard FRA procedures for entries and youth consent. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
