The Whaley Waltz Fell Race takes place on Saturday 27 June 2026 as part of the annual Whaley Bridge Carnival. It is a fell race over approximately 5.8 miles (9.3 km) with about 274 m (899 ft) of climb. The organiser notes a small twist in the route near the finish.

Course and records

The event has used a new course since 2023. Best recorded times on the new course (2024) are 37:09 for the fastest male and 38:05 for the fastest female. On the old course the fastest recorded times are 35:21 (male, 2017) and 42:26 (female, 2012). A route map is provided by the organiser.

Practical information

Race headquarters is Whaley Bridge Bowling Club (SK23 7HX), about a five-minute walk from the start. Numbers are issued on the day. Prizes are offered to the first three female and male finishers, first in age categories V40, V50, V60 and V70, and for female and male teams. The organiser offers a £2 drinks voucher to participants who travel by public transport, walk, cycle, run to the start, or car share with four or more people.
