Grim Reaper Running Festival 2026

The Grim Reaper Running Festival takes place at Grimsthorpe Castle Estate in South Lincolnshire on 23 and 24 May 2026. The event uses a fully marked 10 mile loop that passes through ancient woodland, grass trails, limestone tracks, quiet estate roads and a disused Victorian railway line, and skirts the estate lake. The course is described as undulating, with approximately 550 ft of elevation per lap.

Distances offered include:

  • 10 mile day and night solo races
  • 40 miles solo
  • 70 miles solo
  • 100 miles solo
  • 100 mile team relay

Medics will be onsite throughout the event. There is an aid station at mile 5 providing limited snacks, water and a toilet; ultra-distance runners are expected to be largely self-sufficient and may leave tents or supplies at the start/finish area to access between laps. Camping is permitted on the Friday and Saturday nights close to the start/finish line.

Mandatory kit rules apply to the ultra distances and will be enforced for night laps; required items include a charged phone, survival blanket, headtorch plus backup light, long sleeved baselayer, waterproof jacket and a means to carry at least 1 litre of water. The event is cupless so participants must bring a drinking cup. Cut-off times apply: 40 miles 27 hours, 70 and 100 miles 28 hours. Race rules cover pacers, crew locations, course cutting and littering. Medals are awarded to all finishers and trophies to top solo finishers and winning teams.
