Hoby Hop Trail Race

The Hoby Hop Trail Race marks its 10th anniversary in 2026, offering a cross-country experience through the landscape of the Upper Wreake valley. The event consists of two main categories held over a single distance:

  • 5 mile Trail Race
  • 5 mile Canicross Race

The course features an undulating profile that traverses fields, traditional footpaths, and stiles. Runners encounter natural water crossings such as brooks and navigate local hills that offer views across Leicestershire. Both races are chip-timed to ensure accurate results.

Race headquarters are located at the Hoby and District village hall. This facility provides bag storage, toilet facilities, and serves as the collection point for race numbers. Parking is available on-site for participants. The event is open to runners aged 12 years and older, with a maximum entry limit of 200 participants across the categories.

All finishers receive a commemorative 10th anniversary wooden medal. Awards are presented to the first male and female finishers, as well as winners in veteran and junior categories and mixed teams. Additional prizes are available for participants who set new course records. Online registration closes three days before the event, though on-the-day entries may be possible if the participant cap has not been reached.
