The Great Langdale 21 is a single-day trail race on 6 June 2026, organised by Lake District Sky Trails and held at Lanty Slees Stickle Barn in Great Langdale (LA22 9JX). The event is part of the Rab Scafell Skyrunning Weekend. The race distance is 21 km with 850 m of ascent. Minimum age is 16 on the event date. Entry fee is £50. Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 27 May 2026. The maximum time allowed on course is 5 hours.

Route and race details

The course follows fully marked trails and footpaths through Great and Little Langdale. The route starts at the Stickle Barn, ascends steep and technical paths past Raven Crag, drops to the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub, climbs Mickleden, crosses Great Langdale Beck and passes Stool End Farm. It then crosses Oxendale Beck, ascends past Red Tarn and around Pike O'Blisco, reaches the 3 Shires Stone, drops via Wrynose Pass (short road section), crosses Fell Foot Bridge, skirts Little Langdale Tarn, passes a quarry and Baysbrown Farm/Campsite, follows the Cumbria Way back towards the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub and returns to the Stickle Barn.

Facilities include a manned checkpoint, a recycled paper mache wild flower seed-bomb medal, and vegan salty soup at the finish. Music is planned in the evening and night. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Lakeland Paws Grizedale Growl on 7 December 2025 in Grizedale Forest offers scenic 5K and 10K runs on forest roads and trails with views over Coniston Water. Chip timed and dog friendly with up to two dogs per runner, event is full.
