The course consists of two loops with one hill on each loop. The route includes roots and small branches, so runners should be cautious on the trail. All entrants receive a one-size-fits-all winter hat and gloves. Timing is handled informally: finishers receive a popsicle stick that must be turned in; there is no formal awards ceremony. Overall winners and top three in each age group receive medals when they turn in their stick. Snacks, water, and Powerade are provided at the outdoor shelter after the finish. Old race shirts and hats will be available for sale for $5. The organizer seeks volunteers for the event.
The Crazy Legs Race Series states its purpose is to promote non-pavement and pavement races in the Northwest Indiana region and to hold races in parks across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. The series welcomes participation regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression; transgender runners may register as the gender they identify with without documentation.
