False Spring Trail Runs
False Spring Trail Runs is a trail race at Soldiers Memorial Park Trailhead in LaPorte, IN, held on woodsy single-track trails with winding switchbacks and multiple views of lakes and ponds. The event includes post-race food and beverages and on-course photography.
- 10K - one full loop through the trails
- Half Marathon - two laps of the course
- Half Relay - two-person relay, each runs one loop
The trail system is organized into two main loops: one about 2 miles and the other over 4 miles. The 10K uses one full loop while the half marathon covers two laps. The course is not flat and is described as slow and demanding rather than fast; personal records are unlikely on this terrain.
Aid stations are placed at approximately every 2.5 miles and provide water, electrolyte drink, Huma gels, and fruit. The event is cupless for on-course aid, with no paper or plastic cups provided unless temperatures are below freezing; participants must carry their own containers. Post-race drinks are available.
Every participant receives a custom finisher award as they finish. The top three male and female finishers at each distance receive podium awards. Entrants may register as male, female, or non-binary; currently there is no additional awarding in the non-binary category.
Free event parking is available nearby at the Stone Lake Public Boat Launch and Lions Field, though spaces are limited. Special age-based pricing is offered for runners 19 and under, with example fees listed for the 10K and half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
