False Spring Trail Runs

False Spring Trail Runs takes place on March 21, 2026 at Soldiers Memorial Park in LaPorte, IN. The event uses established dirt trails with woodsy single-track, winding switchbacks, and multiple views of lakes and ponds. The trail system is divided into two sides, roughly a 2-mile loop and a 4+ mile loop.

Distances

• 10K - one full loop
• Half Marathon - two laps; relay option allows two runners to each run a single loop

The course is not flat and is described as slow and demanding; personal records are unlikely. March weather in the Midwest can be highly variable, with past conditions ranging from single-digit chills and strong winds to light rain or mild, warm days.

Aid stations are located at approximately 2.5 mile intervals and supply water, electrolyte drink, Huma gels, and fruit. The event is cupless for on-course aid stations except for drinks provided after the race, so participants bring their own containers to refill.

After the race there is a meal and beverages available to participants and volunteers, with family and friends able to purchase food and drinks for a cash contribution. Event parking is free at nearby Stone Lake Public Boat Launch and Lions Field, though spaces are limited. Every finisher receives a custom award and the top three male and female finishers at each distance receive podium awards. Entrants may register as Male, Female, or Non-Binary.
