Tombstone 30k/50k/50 mile

The Tombstone race day at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso, IN is scheduled for March 13, 2027. The event offers multiple trail distances and a fixed time allowance for completion.

Distances offered:

  • 30k
  • 50k
  • 50 mile

Course and race features include a single aid station located at the start/finish area, and a section known as the "Roller Coaster" hills. Each distance allows 16 hours for completion. Every participant receives a limited edition t-shirt, winter hat or gloves, and a cowboy hat. Finisher awards vary by distance: 30k finishers receive a hand-made wooden finishing medal, while 50k and 50 mile finishers receive belt buckles.

The event is organized by the Crazy Legs Race Series, which develops and manages non-pavement and pavement races in Northwest Indiana. Races are held in parks or areas across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. The series states it welcomes participation regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression; transgender runners may register under the gender they identify with without providing documentation. The organizer also acknowledges that the land used for races is the seized territory of the Miami, Shawnee, and Illinois Nations and notes historical use by the Lenape.
