Event overview

Five Peaks is a multi-distance trail running event in the Adelaide Hills on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. The festival includes an ultra marathon and shorter festival distances. The event is part of the SA Five 50 Ultra Series and is an AUTRA Short Trail National Championship event. The finish is at the Main Oval, Belair National Park.

Courses and distances

The routes use single-track, fire trail, road and sealed surfaces and follow parts of the Yurrebilla Trail with additional diversions such as Mount Lofty Summit. Start locations vary by distance.

Start locations include Foxfield Oval (Athelstone) for the ultra, Cleland Conservation Park for the 26 km, Mt Barker Road for the 17 km, and McElligott’s Quarry for the 10 km.

Race services and rules

Drink stations are positioned on course and provide water, fruit, snacks, soft drinks and Tailwind mandarin-flavoured endurance drink (non-caffeinated, mixed at 200 kcal per 700 ml). Drop bags are available at the Coach Road aid station for ultra runners. Finishers of the 58 km distance receive a finisher medal; medals or trophies are awarded to winners or placegetters in all distances. The event is a UTMB® Index and ITRA points event: the 58 km awards 3 ITRA points and the 26 km awards 1 point.

Cutoffs are enforced at course checkpoints; runners who miss cutoffs will be recorded as DNF and assisted off course. Mandatory items include a personal hydration vessel and mobile phone; early starters must carry a head torch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
