Race #5 Mount Bold - TRSA Trail Championship
Race #5 takes place at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve on Mount Bold Road, Kangarilla SA. Mount Bold is described as the largest reservoir in South Australia and is surrounded by more than 5,500 ha of land with native vegetation of conservation significance.
The courses run on established trails through stringybark and manna gum woodlands, swamps and creeks, and include sustained climbs and panoramic views across the dam wall and the Mount Lofty Ranges. The reserve is home to over 160 native animals, including the Southern Brown Bandicoot.
Four adult distances and a kids’ cross-country are offered:
- Extra long - 35 km
- Long - 25 km
- Medium - 19 km
- Short - 10 km
- Kids cross-country - 1 km
Drink stations provide water, Tailwind and lollies; participants must bring their own drinking container because cups are not supplied. The long and extra long courses are designated UTMB Index races and ITRA National Challenge events, though the courses do not attract ITRA points. Placegetters in championship events receive trophies; a members-only random draw takes place during the event. Additional on-site items include free fruit and nibbles, chocolate brownies, sponsor tents, and a quick massage offered by Botanic Health. Parking may be restricted depending on entry numbers, and detailed parking instructions are provided in the race briefing.
Course paces and strict sweep policies apply; runners must remain ahead of course sweepers at all times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
