Mount Bold

The TRSA Trail Championship is held at Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve. The event takes place on land of the traditional Peramangk and Kaurna owners and runs through native vegetation across more than 5,500 hectares with areas of conservation significance.

The course travels around Mount Bold Reservoir and features hills, varied singletrack and viewpoints across the dam wall and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Runners pass through stringybark and manna gum woodlands, swamps and creeks, and the area supports native wildlife including the Southern Brown Bandicoot.

Four main distances plus a kids run are offered:

  • Extra Long: 35 km, 1098 M elevation
  • Long: 25 km, 817 M elevation
  • Medium: 19 km, 673 M elevation
  • Short: 10 km, 478 M elevation
  • Kids: 1.5 km

The long course is a UTMB Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event and will attract one ITRA point; the shorter distances collect zero points. Race features include prizes for championship placegetters, drink stations with water and lollies (each passed twice), nutrition, electronic timing, first aid attendants, photography and videography, and a members-only random draw. The event is cup-free; participants must bring their own hydration vessel and carry a mobile phone. Parking will be on a clearing alongside Mount Bold Road accessed via Gate 84; car pooling is encouraged and access via Clarendon or Kangarilla is recommended.
