Event Overview
The Mount Bold event is the TRSA Trail Championship. It marks the end of the organizer's series and is held at the Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve. The course explores the land of the traditional Peramangk and Kaurna owners.
Location and Setting
The event takes place at the Mount Bold Reservoir, which is the largest reservoir in South Australia. It is surrounded by more than 5,500 hectares of land, including native vegetation with conservation significance. The location is less than a 50-minute drive from central Adelaide.
Course Details
The run goes around the Mount Bold Reservoir Reserve. Runners travel through environments including stringybark and manna gum woodlands, swamps, and creeks. The area is home to more than 160 native animals, such as the Southern Brown Bandicoot.
Four main running distances are offered, plus a kids' run.
- Extra Long: 35 km with 1098 m of elevation.
- Long: 25 km with 817 m of elevation.
- Medium: 19 km with 673 m of elevation.
- Short: 10 km with 478 m of elevation.
- Kids: 1.5 km.
The long course is a UTMB Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event, awarding 1 ITRA point.
Event Features
The event includes drink stations with water and lollies, and provides food and hydration at the finish area. There is electronic timing and first aid attendants on the course. Prizes are awarded to championship placegetters, and there is a member-only random draw. An optional post-event lunch is available at Anvers Wines.
Participants must bring their own hydration vessel as the event is cup-free, and must carry a mobile phone. A course closure time is enforced, requiring all participants to finish by 12:00 noon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
