Race #3 Sturt Gorge

Race #3 takes place at Sturt Gorge Recreation Park in Craigburn Farm, SA, on August 2, 2026. The event uses winding single-track through woodland slopes and bushland, with sections over boulders and along creek lines that include multiple creek crossings. After heavy rain there may be waterfalls visible along Magpie Gully.

The site supports native wildlife; attendees may see koalas, grazing kangaroos and digging echidnas. The long course is listed as a UTMB Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event. The courses do not attract ITRA points.

There is a strict course cutoff policy. All participants must remain ahead of course sweepers or they will be recorded as a did not finish. Walkers are permitted on the short course only. Drink stations provide water and lollies; participants must bring their own drinking container. Placegetters in each event receive medals. A free kids cross-country run is staged close to the finish line and covers about 1 to 1.5 km.

Event amenities include post-run food items such as fruit and brownies, sponsor tents, and a short massage service. Organisers request car pooling and note that, depending on vehicle numbers, participants may need to walk 15 or more minutes to the start line.
