Four distances attract UTMB Index points: the 34K under the 20k index, the 50K under the 50k index, and the 100K and 100M under the 100k index. The 100 mile course lists eleven manned full service aid stations supplying water, Tailwind Nutrition, Coke, fresh fruit, lollies and crisps. The event operates as plastic free; most runners must carry their own water vessels while 21K runners are provided paper cups at the two hydration stations and Brookway.

Drop bags are available only for 50K, 100K and 100M runners, limited to supermarket cooler bag size and labelled with bib number, name and aid station. Mandatory gear requirements vary by distance; 100M, 100K and 50K runners must carry items including a mobile phone, a mini first aid kit, a waterproof seam sealed jacket, spare headlamp batteries, a high vis vest, warm headwear, gloves and a minimum 1,000 ml of liquids plus a keep cup or soft flask. Pacers are permitted for 34K, 50K, 100K and 100M only and must join at designated aid stations; pacers are not permitted for the 21K.
