Devil o' the Highlands Footrace

The Devil o' the Highlands Footrace is a 42 mile / 69 km point to point ultramarathon along the West Highland Way from Tyndrum to Fort William. The route is way marked and is approximately 95% trail and 5% road, with a stated total ascent of 6500 ft / 1981 m and a 12 hour time limit.

The course includes four organised checkpoints: Bridge of Orchy (7 miles) with water, Glencoe Mountain Resort (17 miles) with water, Coke and an available drop bag, Kinlochleven (27 miles) with water, Coke and an available drop bag, and Lundavra (35 miles) with water and Coke. Runners may leave small labelled drop bags for Glencoe and Kinlochleven; these must not contain shoes or full changes of clothing and should be handed in on race morning.

Event services include start to finish baggage transport, pre and post race buses (extra cost and limited spaces), free showers at the finish and hot home made food and drinks at the finish marquee. The event operates an active gender entry system with allocated places for women, men and an option to enter as nonbinary. Minimum age is 20 and the published entry fee is £100.

Mandatory kit items include an emergency foil blanket, a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, waterproof trousers and a charged mobile phone. The event encourages reduced single use plastic by asking runners to carry a cup or bottle. A charity option is offered for the event t shirt fee with proceeds to Lochaber Woman's Aid. A timed 10 km trail race from Monachyle Mhor Hotel that follows Loch Doine into Monachyle Glen, with three water stops, chip timing and a separate 1 km fun run. Prizes are available across four gender categories and multiple age bands.

Annual hill race near Strathyre, Perthshire on Saturday before the May Day holiday. The **20 km** route gains over **5000 ft (1500 m)** and visits Ben Each and Stuc a' Chroin; a licensed bar and free ceilidh follow.

Glen Lyon Ultra is a scenic 31 mile off road test in remote Perthshire with about 3500 ft of ascent and wet river crossings around Loch Lyon. Rugged trails and lochside camping make this a memorable challenge for adventurous trail runners.

The Glen Lyon Trail Race on 7 June 2026 is a scenic 15.5 mile off road loop around Loch Lyon with 1,500 ft of climb and several river crossings. Limited to 150 runners, expect a tough but rewarding challenge with camping at Glen Lyon Dam.
