Desert Wolf - Austin TX Trail and Ultra Run

Desert Wolf is a trail and ultra event held on April 25, 2026 at Flat Creek Crossing Ranch near Johnson City, Texas. The course uses ranch terrain and nearby Pedernales Falls State Park and is described as dirty and rocky single and wide track trails.

Distances offered include:

  • 5K
  • 12K
  • 25K
  • 50K
  • 100K
  • 25K Ruck

Longer races use multiple loops; the 100K is listed as four loops, the 50K as two loops, and the 25K as one loop. The course includes a 15 mile loop with about 1400 ft elevation gain. The first 7.8 miles of the course are remote and do not have aid or water stations, and that section is described as the most shaded part of the route.

Aid stations provide cold and hot foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice. Drop bag transport to the Coyote Yak aid station is available for 100K and 50K participants; runners are responsible for collecting their drop bags after the race. Pacers are permitted on the last two loops of the 100K and the last loop of the 50K.

Gear notes include a required water carrying system with a 32 ounce minimum for most events, a phone requirement for the 50K, and a headlamp and phone requirement for the 100K. Camping is not allowed at the ranch; Pedernales Falls State Park is about 10 minutes from the start area. Awards include finisher medals, event shirts, and distance specific buckles and patches.
