Mellow Trail Race - Pace Bend Park
The Mellow Trail Race takes place on September 12, 2026, at Pace Bend Park (2011 Pace Bend Rd N, Spicewood, TX), on a peninsula that juts into Lake Travis. Closest smaller cities include Spicewood, Marble Falls, and Bee Cave; larger nearby cities are Austin and San Antonio.
Distances:
- 26.2 mi
- 13.1 mi
- 10k
- 5k
- youth 1 mi
The route uses a main 13.1 mile loop with a 5k shortcut. The marathon is two full 13.1 mile laps, and the 10k is two 5k laps. Both courses run clockwise. Trails traverse rocks, roots, and hard-packed surfaces with periodic elevation gains and lake viewpoints. The finish area is positioned as close to Lake Travis as conditions allow, so shoreline changes can cause small variations in measured distances.
Course markings include orange caution tape, yellow arrow signs, and confidence markers; markings are designed to guide runners at intersections rather than use color coding by distance. Night markings include high-grade reflectors.
Aid stations: staffed Lake A.S. and Jack A.S. offer water, Tailwind, ice, and snacks; Road and Gate A.S. provide at minimum water and fuel. Runners should be prepared to carry water on exposed granite sections. The event is cupless; participants must bring a cup or bottle. Collapsible cups are available for purchase at packet pickup.
Drop bags may be placed at the start/finish area and at the Gate (360 Bridge) location; runners are responsible for placement and retrieval. All distances are chip timed; timing chips are worn on the ankle. A youth 1 mile is offered as an untimed race with a finisher medal. Overall awards include top finishers for male, female, and masters categories. Volunteer roles support course operations and include provisions such as park entry and gear.
