OUTLAST AUSTIN - NIGHT OUT EDITION
OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge in Johnson City, Texas at 339 Ulrich Rd. Participants run a 5K loop every hour on the hour. Each lap must be completed within the hour to continue; finishing early allows rest until the next round, and missing a lap ends a participant's progress. Completing all six laps is required to earn the full event finish.
The course is trail based with natural terrain, elevation, and variable conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. Runners have limited recovery time between laps for refueling and regrouping. Each 5K is timed individually and a runner who completes all six has a combined time that counts toward local awards and the national leaderboard.
Awards and recognition include patches for reaching four and five laps, a premium OUTLAST medal for six laps, and a premium OUTLAST tee for all participants. The top male and female at each event are recognized for the fastest combined 5K times. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest across all OUTLAST six hour events is named National Champion and receives a cash prize of $1,000. Top city champions earn spots in the Outlast Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where Championship prizes are 1st $1,200, 2nd $800, and 3rd $500.
Aid is available at basecamp with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event. Night participants must use headlamps. Trail shoes, a personal hydration system, layers, fuel between laps, and optional tent setups are appropriate for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
