Pechanga Trail Run

The Pechanga Trail Run is held at Krause Springs in Spicewood on privately owned ranch land that includes a natural watering hole. The event name draws from the Luiseno word meaning "the place where the water drips" and the Spanish word for "party." The course features single-track trail running and on-site activities such as loud music, outdoor movies, food trucks, games, a Family and Kids Zone, bounce houses, and prize giveaways.

Distances offered include:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • 13.1 mi (half marathon)
  • 26.2 mi (marathon)
  • 50k
  • Youth run

Each participant receives both a gun time and a chip time; awards are determined by gun time. Medals are offered to finishers and to participants who make an attempt at a distance. Awards go to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top masters male and female. Event shirts are provided for registrations completed before the shirt cutoff date of April 23; later registrants receive alternate apparel or swag. Packet pickup occurs on the day before the event (Saturday) only.

The course includes two fully serviced aid stations: one at the start/finish area and one approximately halfway. Aid station supplies include cookies, PBJ sandwiches, fruit, pickles and pickle juice, salty snacks, cola and other sodas, Tailwind, and electrolyte products. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own cup, bottle, or hydration system. Pacers are not allowed. The event was postponed after severe weather made portions of the trails and access roads unsafe; organizers are working to reschedule and are offering transfer or rescheduling options for registrants.
