Desert Island Trail Runs

The event is based at the Prison Hill OHV Staging Area south of the Snyder Road trail head near Carson City. The course uses single-track and two-track trails within the Prison Hill Recreation Area. The start/finish is located at the motorized vehicle staging area and parking is in a nearby open area.

Course maps provided on the event page show the following distances:

  • 21K
  • 10K
  • 5K

Registration information on the event materials also lists 6K, 12K and 22K, and shows tiered fees before and after 10/09/2026 as well as race-day fees. Race-day registration accepts cash, check or Zelle only. Bib numbers are distributed on race morning.

Aid stations will offer water only. According to the course map, the longest route (21K) includes one aid station at about mile 7; the shorter courses list no aid stations.

The race is presented as the third and final event in a Fall Series that merges elements of former Carson Canyons and winter trail series events. There are no finisher or division place awards, and the organizer requests orderly, parallel parking to maximize available space. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
