Desert Island Trail Runs - Ascent Runs

The event is a set of trail races held at the Prison Hill Recreation Area, with the race start and finish at the motorized vehicle (OHV) staging area south of the Snyder Road trail head. The staging area is reached from Snyder Road where it meets Gentry and Golden Eagle; the entry is about a mile down Golden Eagle just after a large rock outcropping, then left onto a dirt road to a large open parking area.

The course uses single track and double track trails within Prison Hill Recreation Area. Distances offered include:

  • 21K
  • 10K
  • 5K

This event is the third and final race in a local Fall Series. The series merges a more traditionally structured trail race with previous winter trail series events, with the intent to retain the winter series atmosphere while providing additional distance options in milder fall temperatures. Organizers note the format is being developed and may be adjusted in future years.

Registration is listed as opening soon. Bib numbers are available for pickup on race morning. No awards are supplied in order to keep entry costs lower. Parking is expected to be ample; participants are asked to park parallel to maximize space. Weather information will be updated closer to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
