Death at Dupuis (a Backyard Event)
Indiantown, United States • 7 Feb 2026
Event format
Death at DuPuis is a backyard-style, not-for-profit ultrarunning event held in Canal Point, FL. All participants run a 4.166667-mile loop that restarts each hour until only one runner completes the loop on time or all runners stop. Runners receive whistle warnings before each restart. The event includes on-site seating and shade at the start/finish area on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no refunds for participants who drop; entry fees from dropouts go into a donation fund for the local trail chapter. The race awards a "Bronze Ticket" that grants entry to Capital in Virginia and provides a $1,000 stipend to the winner. The event is presented as an homage to Big's Backyard in Tennessee and is organized as an Athletic Soul Foundation event.
Location and organization
The course uses trails in the DuPuis Management Area, a 21,875-acre natural area in northwestern Palm Beach and southwestern Martin counties. The property includes ponds, wet prairies, cypress domes, pine flatwoods and remnant Everglades marsh. DuPuis offers miles of hiking and horseback trails, an equestrian center, backpack and group campsites, and 22 miles of hiking trails including part of the Ocean to Lake Trail. The organizer collects donations for the Loxahatchee chapter of the FTA and has a stated minimum donation goal of $2,000; past events have returned over $10,000 to the FTA. Registration closes on February 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
