About the race
The Just Survive 125 is a 125-mile out and back ultramarathon held on January 1, 2027, along Florida's Ocean to Lake Hiking Trail between Hobe Sound Beach and Lake Okeechobee. The event uses a 48 hour cutoff for completion. The trail passes through pine flatwoods, cypress swamps, wet prairies, and palmetto scrub. Runners should expect water crossings, mud, sand, heat, humidity, and periods of darkness.
Large portions of the course have limited or no cell service. There are no aid stations and no crew support. The event is bucket supported: each runner prepares four supply buckets containing nutrition, hydration, gear, and essentials. Volunteers transport and monitor buckets at designated locations spaced at approximately 15.5 miles apart. Conditions in January can vary locally and may include cool mornings, warm afternoons, rain, wind, humidity, and wet trail surfaces.
The participant guide provides detailed information about race procedures, logistics, and course conditions. The event is organized by members of the local trail running community with volunteer support from the Florida Trail Association's Loxahatchee Chapter. Registration closes on December 20. The event emphasizes self-reliance, route navigation, and sustained movement over remote terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
