Cragg Vale

Cragg Vale is a short fell race held on 1 July 2026 in the village of Cragg Vale. The route measures 4 miles (6.4 km) with approximately 244 m (801 ft) of climb and is run from the heart of the village near Cragg Vale Church. Registration and refreshments are provided at Cragg Church and beer is available.

Entry is on the day only, with a stated entry fee of £8 and a request to bring cash. The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and carries the associated permit and insurance.

The race is classified as a non-GPS event. Participants may use a GPS device to record their route and distance, but electronic devices must not be used to aid navigation except in an emergency. If a GPS function is used to navigate to safety, the competitor must declare themselves as non-competitive at the finish.

A decision on mandatory kit to be carried will be made on the day based on weather. Runners should bring the FRA mandatory minimum kit in case it is required; this includes waterproof full body cover (waterproof jacket with integrated hood and waterproof trousers with taped seams), a hat (not a buff), gloves, a map, a compass and a whistle. If required to carry kit, it must meet the FRA specification or the runner will not be allowed to race.

Minimum age for competitors is 14. Parking is requested on the main Cragg Vale Road; parking by the church or Church Bank is not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
