Corvedale Cake Walk

This is a Marches LDWA challenge walk based at Holdgate Church near Much Wenlock in Shropshire. The event offers two route options and runs on tracks, fields, lanes and sections of Wenlock Edge. Nearby parking will be well signed. Hot drinks are available at the start so participants are asked to bring a mug.

Distances

  • 22 miles
  • 10 miles

The longer route goes from Holdgate via tracks and fields to the summit of Abdon Burf, then traverses hill and valley to Clee St Margaret (CP 1), continues to Munslow Park, climbs and descends Wenlock Edge to Eaton (CP 2), returns along Wenlock Edge via Wilderhope and back to Holdgate. The shorter route follows Holdgate to Abdon Burf summit, across to Clee St Margaret (checkpoint) then to Tugford and back across fields and lanes to Holdgate.

All proceeds will go to Holdgate and Eaton church communities. Full refreshments are provided at checkpoints, including cakes, sandwiches and drinks, and hot dogs are served at the finish. Dogs are not permitted because this is livestock country. Entries open on 1 January 2027 and close on 10 April 2027 with a limit of 160 entries and a waiting list thereafter. Entry fees are £20 for the 22 mile route and £16 for the 10 mile route, online only, with no refunds after 1 March 2027. Participants should carry suitable clothing for changeable weather and the relevant OS Explorer map 217 covering Longmynd and Wenlock Edge.
