Corvedale Cake Walk

Corvedale Cake Walk is a Marches LDWA challenge walk based at Holdgate Church near Much Wenlock in Shropshire (TF13 6LW). The event uses country tracks, fields and established rights of way around the Corvedale and Wenlock Edge and includes climbs to Abdon Burf, the highest point in Shropshire. Both routes return via the Jack Mytton Way; the longer route includes an ascent of Wenlock Edge with views toward Mid Wales.

Distances on offer:

  • 22 miles route via Abdon Burf, Clee St Margaret, Munslow Park, Wenlock Edge and Wilderhope.
  • 10 miles route via Abdon Burf, Clee St Margaret and Tugford back to Holdgate.

Entries open 1 January 2027 and close 10 April 2027. Entry fees are stated for each distance and refunds are not available after 1 March 2027. Parking is clearly signed nearby. Hot drinks are available at the start; checkpoints provide refreshments including cakes, sandwiches and hot drinks, and hot dogs are served at the finish. No dogs are allowed because this is livestock country. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants are advised to carry suitable clothing for changeable weather, bring a mug and refer to the OS Explorer 217 map for the Longmynd and Wenlock Edge. All proceeds support the Holdgate and Eaton church communities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
