Cline Buttes Last Person Standing

Cline Buttes 3/6/12 hour, Last Person Standing, and 5k

This event is scheduled for May 23, 2026 at Cline Buttes in Redmond, Oregon. Participants may choose a timed effort of three, six, or twelve hours, enter a Last Person Standing format, or run a single-loop 5k.

The course is a roughly 3 mile loop that runners repeat for their chosen event. Each loop contains a 0.5 mile climb gaining about 800 feet to the top of Cline Butte, followed by a descending section. The Last Person Standing format has runners begin a new loop each hour until only one runner remains. The 5k covers one full loop.

Aid station support is provided near the start and finish. Aid station food examples include chips, pretzels, fruit, pickles, quesadillas, and hot meal options later in the overnight events. Beverages listed include soda, ginger ale, broths, electrolyte drinks, and coffee. Miscellaneous supplies will include first aid items, sunscreen, and menstrual products. This is a cupless race; runners are expected to carry their own drinking vessels. Paper cups may be provided for hot beverages when collapsible cups are unsuitable.

Estimated elevation gain for extended distances is provided: 50k about 9,720 feet; 50 miles about 16,200 feet; 100 miles about 32,400 feet. A portion of proceeds supports the Mountain View High School cross-country team in Bend. Registration policy notes include a 50 percent credit for cancellations made more than 30 days before the race, no credit for cancellations 30 days or less before the race, and a 100 percent credit if the event is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled. Beginning in 2024 race registration is free for Native American and Indigenous runners. Youth discounts and volunteer race credit options are also available.
