Calderdale Way Ultra

The Calderdale Way Ultra offers two off road distances around Calderdale that follow the traditional route devised in the 1970s and pass through settlements and towns in the area. The course uses open moorland, woodland trails and some canal sections with occasional road crossings.

The 50 mile route starts and finishes in Heptonstall and includes scenic viewpoints above Todmorden and Old Town as well as quieter canal sections. There are six aid stations along the route, including the fifth in Todmorden located between two climbs locally nicknamed "little bastard" and "big bastard". Runners on the 50 mile route have a 17 hour time limit to return to Heptonstall, where hot food and a bar are available after the event.

The 30 mile route starts at Brookfoot lock in Brighouse and finishes in Heptonstall. It has a 10 hour cut off. The route includes the climb out of Todmorden followed by flatter sections toward the finish.

Entries open on 26 April 2026 and close on 9 April 2027. The event is open to entrants aged 18 or older. Entry fees vary by distance and membership status, with reduced rates for under 23s. Registration is handled at Heptonstall Social and Bowling Club and there is a start day registration option for 30 mile runners at their start. A fell race in Horwich on 4 April 2026 organised by Horwich RMI Harriers with registration at the Crown Public House and start and finish at Lever Park Avenue; junior entrants under 16 must enter the junior race.

Lets Motor along the Towpath in Rodley is a canal-side trail event on a flat towpath with distances from 10k to ultramarathon. The course is signed and marshalled, has regular feed stations and a bespoke finisher medal.

Experience Halifax like never before. The Halifax Urban Trail is a unique 10K route that takes runners through the town's historic buildings, from Shibden Park to the Piece Hall. This inaugural event supports a local hospice charity.

A short fell race in Haworth on 7 April 2026 covering 4.8 km with about 100 m of climb; finishers receive a Cadbury's Creme Egg and prizes are Easter eggs. Entry is possible on the day or by pre-entry for the series.
