Borders 8-hour Challenge is a timed loop event organised by NU Limits Running at Rock UK Whithaugh Park, Newcastle upon Tyne on 22 November 2025. Participants complete as many 4.366 mile trail loops as possible within an 8-hour time limit. The route runs on trail paths around Borders Forest Park and includes about 480 ft of ascent per lap.

  • 3 laps = Half Marathon
  • 6 laps = Full Marathon
  • 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Timing is electronic. Runners wear a wristband HuTag that records the start and finish of each lap and provides a final lap count. Runners must check out with the timing team after finishing to finalise their finish time and lap total. A finisher prize is available at the event basecamp.

Logistics and rules

Event basecamp offers outdoor gazebos and an indoor hall for kit storage; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Onsite catering will offer hot food, snacks, and drinks. Parking is charged on site, with a separate overnight rate for campervans; overnight parking includes access to water and toilet facilities. A mandatory kit list includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60-90 g carbohydrate per hour), appropriate clothing, dry clothes for after the event, a mobile phone, and a headtorch. Entry places are limited to 175; the published entry fee before 19 November 2025 is £41.95. Refunds and transfers follow the organiser’s published policy.
