Lonesome Pine Trail Run

The Lonesome Pine Trail Run is a 17 km night trail race held on 31 January 2026 in Kielder Forest. It is Race 5 of the Shadowlands Race Series and carries 369 m of recorded elevation. The event is organised by Cold Brew Events Ltd and is held under TRA and UKA rules.

The route uses forest tracks and mountain bike trails, centered on the Lonesome and Sky Dive mountain bike loops. Runners follow the relatively flat Lakeside Way before entering a sequence of long steady climbs to a highest point. The descent uses newly built mountain bike trails that lead into Kielder village and on to the finish.

Entry details include an age minimum of 18 years. Entries open on 26 October 2025 at 20:00 and close on 26 January 2026. Entry fees are listed as UKA member £28.00 and non member £30.00, plus a booking fee. The entry fee includes a £4 Forestry England charge. A £2 fee applies for participants who are not UKA members. There are prizes awarded on the night and competitors can earn points toward the series presentation scheduled for 21 February 2026 at Pedalling Squares cafe. Trail runs nearby

A 10 km urban trail through central Carlisle on 06 May 2026 that passes Carlisle Cathedral, Millennium Bridge and Carlisle Castle. Entry is limited to 300 runners aged 15 and over with overall and age group prizes.

A final local trail race in St Boswells covering about 13 km across river trails, open fields and rooty paths with a historical Wobbly Bridge midway. Numbers are issued in the village Hall and entry is £15.

An outdoor mud obstacle race in Walton, Brampton on 13–14 June 2026 offering 10 miles, 10K, 6K and a 4K junior course with technical obstacles, a 100 meter slip and slide, and on-site facilities including water stations and parking.

A timed, multi-leg ultra from Kielder Castle where solo runners or Ekiden teams cover five radial routes totalling 170 miles within 36 hours, with the North leg to Carter Bar required as the finale and self navigation required.
