Carlisle City Urban Trail Race

The Carlisle City Urban Trail Race is a 10 km running event held in Carlisle, England. The race route incorporates both road sections and established off-road tracks, offering a variety of terrain for participants. The event is conducted in accordance with UKA rules, with a measurement certificate and race permit provided.

The course begins on St Mary’s Gate near Carlisle Cathedral. Runners pass through several local landmarks and green spaces, including:

The route takes participants over the Millennium Bridge and past Carlisle Castle. It continues through Bitts Park and Rickerby Park before approaching the finish line located behind the Sands Centre near Lamp post No6.

Event headquarters are located at the Sands Centre, where participants can view course maps and risk assessments. This competition has an entry limit of 300 participants, and all runners must be at least 15 years of age. Live results are provided for the event through a dedicated timing service.

Prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, age group prizes are distributed based on the number of competitors in each category. If an age group runner finishes in an overall prize position, that award takes precedence and the age group prize moves to the next finisher in that category. Experience a 20 kilometre circular trail race around the shores of Buttermere and Crummock Water. This fully marked route features technical lakeshore trails and woodland tracks set against a dramatic fell landscape.

The Criffel Hill Race takes place in March 2026. Runners must carry mandatory safety kit, including full waterproofs and a map. All event profits support Moffat Mountain Rescue.

Prepare for the Montane Lakeland 100 with this 33 mile supported recce from Buttermere to Dalemain. The route features coach transport and medical support for confirmed race entrants.

Enjoy an out and back run or walk from Pooley Bridge to Hallin Fell. Choose between six, ten, or thirteen miles of scenic trails and paths with legendary post race refreshments at the village hall.
