Carlisle City Urban Trail Race, Carlisle

The event is a 10 km urban trail run held in Carlisle on 6 May 2026 with the Sands Centre as event headquarters. The course starts close to Carlisle Cathedral on St Mary’s Gate and passes the Millennium Bridge, Carlisle Castle, Bitts Park and Rickerby Park, finishing near Lamp post No6 at the rear of the Sands Centre. The route uses a mixture of on-road sections and well established off-road tracks.

Race administration is based at the Sands Centre where race numbers and timing chips are issued at registration. A full course risk assessment, route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate will be available at the event headquarters in accordance with UKA rules. Live results will be published online and are expected shortly after the race.

Prizes are awarded to overall male and female 1st to 3rd places and for age-group positions according to the number of competitors in each category. Entry is limited to 300 participants and entrants must be at least 15 years old. The published entry fee is £21.00 plus applicable fees. A 26 mile fundraising challenge in the North Pennines organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team. The anti-clockwise route from Allendale passes peat bogs and summits and uses electronic chip timing.

Experience the landscape of the Lake District with trail races of 23 km and 53 km starting from Keswick. These chip timed events include themed medals and routes passing Derwent Water and Scafell Pike.

Tackle the Grisedale Grind, a steep 4 km Lake District fell race with a testing 480 m ascent that rewards gutsy climbs. Entry on the day for £7 cash, juniors welcome at Revelin Moss opposite Whinlatter Visitor Centre.

A mountain running event of about 40 miles in the Lake District, taking in Helvellyn, High Street and other summits. The figure of eight route has a 27 miles short option, is limited to 50 starters and requires full mountain kit.
