Angry Tortoise 25K/50K

The 2027 edition is the fourteenth running of the Angry Tortoise trail races. The event takes place in the flatwoods of Cary State Forest on the outskirts of Jacksonville, in Bryceville, Florida. The course follows forest roads and is described as flat, with well-supported aid stations along the route.

Both distances have an eight hour cut-off. Runners receive a race shirt and finisher awards. Awards are given to first, second and third overall male and female, and to first male and female masters (40-49), grandmasters (50-69) and senior grandmasters (70 and over) in both the 25K and 50K races. Lunch is provided after the race.

Cary State Forest offers a free hot shower in the male and female restrooms located near the start/finish area. Proceeds from the event support the Florida Striders Kids' Running Programs. A course map and a race video are available. Registrations submitted after 12:00pm on 01 February 2026 are not guaranteed the requested race shirt size; organizers order extra shirts and will try to accommodate.
