This ain't your Mothers 50k & Trail Marathon

This event is a set of trail races held at the Pioneer Trail in Jennings State Forest near Middleburg, Florida. The trail is mostly single track and includes diverse terrain, waterfalls, walkover stream crossings, and vistas along the Black Creek ravines. Section 4 is a 2.7 mile portion noted for steep and technical terrain; Section 5 is a newly added out-and-back used in the 50K. Several sections offer flat scenic single track such as the Cross Cut section and the palmetto forest portion that leads to the Indian Ford turnaround.

Distances offered:

  • 50K out-and-back using all sections and added Section 5
  • Trail Marathon out-and-back from Dunns Farm Trailhead
  • 12K follows first 6 miles of the marathon course
  • 7K follows pink Dunns Farm trail and Sawyer trail to the finish

The 50K has about 2,000 feet of elevation gain and loss; the marathon reports similar total elevation. Time limits are specified for the 50K and marathon. The event is cup free so participants must provide their own hydration; aid stations are set roughly every 2.5 to 3 miles with water, electrolyte nutrition options, and standard ultra race fare. Maps and GPX files are provided for each course. Awards include overall and masters categories and a designated finisher recognition for last place.
