This ain't your Mothers 50k & Trail Marathon
This event is held on the Pioneer Trail in Jennings State Forest near Middleburg, Florida. The Pioneer Trail is mostly single track, created in 2019, and includes diverse terrain, waterfalls, walkover stream crossings, and vistas along the Black Creek Ravines. One section of the trail is described as notably vertical and technical for Florida.
Race options include:
- 50K out and back traversing all trail sections with an added out and back of Section 5
- Marathon out and back following much of the same course as the 50K
- 12K follows the first six miles of the marathon course then returns via the pink Dunns Farm trail
- 7K starts on the pink Dunns Farm trail, follows the pink loop to the Pioneer Trail, crosses Many Seeps Bridge and finishes on the Sawyer trail
The 50K and marathon courses each report about 2,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. The marathon route uses the Cross Cut section, Section 4 with 2.7 miles of steeper, technical terrain and vistas, and a flat 2.5 mile section called the enchanted forest to the Indian Ford turnaround.
The event is cup less; participants must provide their own hydration. Aid stations are placed at roughly every 2.5 to 3 miles and offer water, electrolyte nutrition options, and standard ultra race fare. At least one porta potty will be available at the turnaround/drop bag site and at the start and finish. Time limits are listed as 11 hours for the 50K and 10 hours for the marathon, with hard cutoffs at the four way on the return trip. Course maps and GPX files are provided. Awards include top three overall per race category, Masters awards starting at age 50, and special awards for the last finishers. Technical race shirts are offered with a shirt guarantee cutoff date.
