Sombrero Ultra Running Festival (SURF)
The Sombrero Ultra Running Festival is scheduled for February 12, 2027 in Middleburg, Florida, at the Clay County Regional Sports Complex. The event is organized by Sombrero Running and includes time-based ultrarunning races with on-site crew options, aid, and support services.
The event offers multiple time-based race distances:
- 3 hour events
- 6 hour event
- 12 hour day and 12 hour night events
- 24 hour event
- 48 hour event
The venue opens the day before for 48-hour runners to set up tents, canopies, and self-crewing areas; other distances may set up after the 48-hour event begins. A runner's village is provided for canopies, tents, and crews. RV parking is allowed with no hookups and an on-site RV fee of $15; payment can be made in cash, Venmo, or PayPal. An RV registration form is used to reserve spots.
There will be one aid station at the start/finish area that runners pass twice each loop. This is a cupless race; runners must bring their own bottles, hydration vests, or collapsible cups. Aid station items include water, electrolytes, soda, fruit, cooked food, and hot options such as burritos and ramen. Hydration igloos will be sanitized and volunteers will manage sanitation.
Medical personnel and physical therapy support will be on site for the event, and footcare services are planned. Pacers are permitted only for the 24-hour and 48-hour events after runners have completed 12 hours; pacers must register with race staff. Custom technical shirts are offered and a registration deadline is given to guarantee a shirt. Awards include belt buckles and medals. Refunds are not available for this event.
