This ain't your Mothers 50k & Trail Marathon
This event is a set of trail races held in Jennings State Forest in Middleburg, FL and organized by Sombrero Running. Courses use mostly single track trail with varying terrain, several vistas along the Black Creek ravines, walkover stream crossings, and a few small waterfalls. One section is noted for steep and technical terrain and measures about 2.7 miles; other sections include a flat scenic Cross Cut segment and a flat 2.5 mile southern section.
The 50K is an out and back that traverses all trail sections and includes an additional out and back on a newly added section, with over 2k of elevation gain and loss. The marathon follows the same main route with less added mileage and records just about 2k of elevation gain and loss. There are also shorter course options.
Aid is cup less so participants must bring their own hydration vests or bottles. Aid stations are provided with water and electrolyte nutrition roughly every 2.5 to 3 miles, and at least one portable toilet is available at the turnaround/drop bag site and at the start finish area. Packet pickup occurs on race day. Time limits are set for the longer distances.
