Altra 13 Valleys Ultra

Altra 13 Valleys Ultra is a multi-distance trail event in the Lake District National Park that links the park's 13 valleys, which are part of the area's UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. The weekend listed for 2026 runs from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September and is organised in partnership with the Lake District National Park.

Distances offered on the event pages are:

  • 21 km - 2 Valleys Trail, fully waymarked, 1 feed station.
  • 58.4 km - 5 Valleys Ultra, fully waymarked, 3 feed stations.
  • 110.3 km - 7 Valleys Ultra, course not waymarked, 7 feed stations.
  • 184.3 km - 13 Valleys Ultra, course not waymarked, 12 feed stations, 46.5 hour cut-off.

The route descriptions note mountain and trail running over fells, around lakes and through the valleys, with regular check points and feed stations on the ultra distances. The event is registered with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA); finishers receive up to 6 ITRA points depending on distance. The 13 Valleys and 7 Valleys races are listed as official qualifier races for the Western States Endurance Run.

Organisers state that 5% of every entry fee will be donated to the Lake District Foundation to support environmental projects. The weekend also includes Future Valleys, a children and youth programme with flat, age-appropriate routes in Keswick. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
