The Moo-rathon, Calf and Hen K is organised by Zig Zag Running and takes place on 21 March 2026 at Hyde Hall Farm, Buntingford, SG9 0RU. Distances offered include:

The event has a maximum of 300 entrants and a minimum age of 18 years. Entries close on 20 March 2026. There is a six-hour event cut off; a shorter four-hour cut off applies for later starters.

Course and logistics

The route starts from the base camp at Hyde Hall Farm and runs around the farm grounds. The course is a trail event that contains some tarmac paths, grassland and trail. Lap formats are used: the heavy half marathon is usually 5 laps with options to change to 6 or 7 on the day, and the ultra is usually 9 laps with the option to increase up to 12 laps.

Facilities listed include a water aid station at the lap point, a baggage area, and secure on-site parking with an attendant to direct parking and race-number collection. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal or, where available, a lucky-dip medal from previous events. The event is cupless, so participants must bring cups or bottles for refreshment refilling. A night street orienteering event in Chelmsford on 21 January using MapRun with two courses of 4.0 km and 7.3 km. It counts toward the Essex Winter Midweek Series with handicap scoring and an Anytime catch-up option.

Join the Dark Horse Trail on 21 January 2026 for a 5 mile self navigated run around Galleywood Common, starting and finishing at the Horse and Groom pub. Limited to 60 places, entry includes a sausage or veggie burger with chips.

Dark Rose is a 5.5 mile trail race around Great Waltham with a small 75 runner field and self navigation route given on the day. Finish back at the Rose and Crown for a hearty cottage pie or vegetable lasagne.

Run the Wivenhoe 5 mile trail on 07 Feb 2026, starting and finishing at The Black Buoy pub near the station. Limited to 50 places, with a celebratory drink for finishers.
