Essex Trail Events stages two trail races on 23 August 2026 at Springfield Cricket Club, Coronation Park, Timsons Lane, Chelmsford CM2 6AF.

Distances

  • Approximately 16 miles, minimum age 17.
  • Approximately 6 miles, minimum age 16.

The Admiral McHilly course is a hilly trail that previously included about 700 feet of climbing and descent concentrated in the middle third of the route; this year's course adds a further 200 feet of climb. The Chelmer Trail follows a flattish route in the Chelmer Valley.

These are self-navigation trail races. Runners receive a written route description on the day; there are no course markings, no marshals, and no GPX file. The event is not a mass start and runners will be timed out and back in at the finish.

Entry details include an affiliated fee of £8 and an unaffiliated fee of £10, plus a 50p booking fee. The entry fee includes a £3 voucher valid at the cricket club bar on the day. There is ample parking at the venue. Dogs are not permitted. No refunds will be issued except if the race is cancelled, and transfers are not allowed after 16 August.
