Mid Essex Casuals present the 16th edition of a self-navigation trail event on 26 Jul 2026 at The Scout Hut, Church Road, Hatfield Peverel CM3 2LD. The event is held under UK Athletics rules with TRA Permit 8367. No dogs are allowed.

The route is mainly off road on footpaths, tracks and field edges with some short road sections. It is not suitable for spikes. There are no route markings or marshalls; a narrative will be supplied to each entrant to follow. A self-service drink station is provided at approximately halfway on the 13-mile route. First aid and a defibrillator are available at the finish.

Runners and walkers may enter. The minimum age for solo runners is 17 years. The Scout Hut will be open for registration and toilets, and staggered starts will be used. Entry fees are £9 for affiliated entrants and £11 for unaffiliated entrants; no refunds are available. The entry includes a post-race ploughmans lunch and a drink. Trail runs nearby

A self-navigated trail of about half marathon distance through the Essex countryside, starting and finishing at The Compasses in Littley Green, with staggered pre-booked starts and proceeds to Braintree Youth Project Charity.

A six hour trail running challenge on a just over 5K 3.3 mile loop mostly off road through fields and vineyards with views of the River Crouch. Chip timed and fully marked, with one checkpoint per loop and a finisher medal.

Pretty Muddy 5k at Hylands Park on 19 July 2026 is a grass obstacle course with climbs, crawls and slides. Waves run every 15 minutes; the event has a £50 minimum fundraising target and listed entry prices for adults and children.

A community memorial running event at Hockley Woods, Essex, focused on raising funds for cancer-related charities; organisers report £60,000 raised over 12 years and indicated 2025 would be the final running.
