Chelmsford Pretty Muddy 5k

The event on Sunday 19 July 2026 is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course held within Hylands Park, Chelmsford. The course is on grass, fully contained inside the park grounds, and includes slight inclines and undulating areas. The start line is on the open grass area behind Flint Cottage and the finish line is opposite the start.

Obstacles require climbing, crawling and sliding. Waves depart every 15 minutes to manage safety on the course. Marshals are on site to assist and participants may skip obstacles if needed. To take part participants must be 13 years of age or older; separate Pretty Muddy Kids events are available for children aged 12 and under.

Facilities listed for the event include refreshments, toilets and parking. The event is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs are not allowed. Bag drop and showers are not available. Sunflower wristbands and British Sign Language stage content will be available to support accessibility needs.

Travel notes state a free designated car park accessed via Greenbury Way, a bus stop served by First Bus 351, and Chelmsford railway station approximately 3.5 miles away. There are about 20 cycle spaces in the main car park. No electric vehicle charging points are available at the venue.

Participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support and a Race for Life medal on finishing.
