Chelmsford Pretty Muddy 5k

Chelmsford Pretty Muddy is a 5k obstacle event organised by Cancer Research UK at Hylands Park, Greenbury Way, Chelmsford CM2 8FS. The course is fully contained within the park grounds and is run on grass with some slight inclines and undulating areas. The start and finish are located on open grass near Flint Cottage.

Participants climb, crawl and slide around a muddy obstacle course. Marshals are positioned on course to assist and participants may skip obstacles if needed. Pretty Muddy events use staggered start waves every 15 minutes to manage flow on the course.

Entry categories and targets are stated: adult entry priced at £22.49, child entry priced at £12.00, and a minimum fundraising target of £50.00. To take part participants must be 13 years of age or older; there are separate Pretty Muddy Kids events for younger children.

Facilities listed for the event include refreshments, toilets and parking. The event is not suitable for wheelchair users and is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs are not allowed on site; bag drop and showers are not available. A 50km ultra along the River Medway from Rochester to Tonbridge, mostly on marked towpaths and trails and passing three medieval castles. The event includes three aid stations, live timing, bag transfer and a strict nine hour cut off.

A timed endurance event at Redbridge Cycling Centre where competitors run a 4.2 mile (6.7 km) loop every hour and must finish each loop within the hour. After extensive loops a final straight race decides the winner.

A track event at Wodson Park offering 5k to 50k plus a 6 hour challenge, timed with lap counting on a 400 metre athletics track. Facilities include chip timing, aid stations, free parking and complimentary tea, coffee and cake for runners.

A four-round trail series on footpaths, fields, woods and some roads held across June to September. All four rounds count toward individual championship scores, with timed results, navigational questions, and t-shirts for those who complete..
