The Cold Norton Charity Summer 10K and Half Marathon Trail Event

This charity trail event takes place on 9 August 2026 at Bencott, Newport Avenue, Cold Norton, Essex CM3 6NR. The organiser gives a What3words location as tickles.options.rural. All proceeds from the event are donated to Farleigh Hospice.

Two route options are offered:

• 10 km
• 13.1 miles (half marathon)

Both routes run mainly on grass, tracks and paths through the countryside around Cold Norton and nearby villages. The courses are unmarked narrative routes. Participants receive written route instructions and there will be some tape at trickier points to assist navigation.

The event uses a staggered start and parking is close to the start and finish. There is no bag drop so participants are asked to get ready by their vehicles and attend registration when prepared to run. Runners are timed in and out but the event is not chip timed. Aid stations are present but this is a cupless event; participants must carry their own cup or drink bottle since no cups will be provided at checkpoints. Dogs are not permitted.

Refreshments at the finish include hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes with voluntary donations welcome. Facilities include ample parking, toilets and handwashing. Entry fees are £14 for the 10 km and £20 for the half marathon, with an optional finishers medal for £3.20. Entry Central applies a booking fee of 50p or 4 percent whichever is greater. Entries close on 31 July 2026 and total places are limited to 120.

Farleigh Hospice provides care and support to people affected by life limiting illnesses. Approximately 40 percent of its yearly running costs are funded by the local NHS and the hospice relies on community contributions to meet daily running costs.
