Raynedeer Run 2026
Raynedeer Run 2026 is a festive, looped running event taking place on 13 December 2026. The event is sold out and marks the eighth anniversary of this Reindeer run. Distances on offer include several options to suit different goals.
The course uses the Flitch Way, a traffic free, hard packed trail that runs for about 15 miles through the Essex countryside between Braintree and Bishops Stortford. The route follows the former Bishops Stortford to Braintree branch line and is noted in the event information as an area important for wildlife.
Runners use 5.3 km loops on an out and back layout. Laps required are specified in the event details: four laps for a half marathon and eight laps for a full marathon. A six hour overall time limit applies for the 6 hour challenge and any continuation beyond full marathon distance is controlled by the clock.
An aid station is provided at the end of every lap. Competitors may leave a bag with personal supplies at the aid station. Available refreshments listed include flapjacks, fruit, nuts, water and squash. To reduce single use plastic the event is cupless; participants are asked to bring their own receptacle. A Hydrapak Speedcup is noted as available to purchase.
The race starts at Rayne Station outside the Booking Hall Café, Station Road, Rayne, Braintree CM77 6RX. Parking at the Booking Hall is limited; additional parking is available on New Road opposite the Flitch Way. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UK Athletics rules, and it is a 100 Club qualifying event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
