Gosfield Backyard Ultra

Gosfield Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra event held on the grounds of Gosfield School in Essex, UK from 29 August 2026 to 31 August 2026. The format is last person standing: runners must begin a new lap on the hour, every hour, and complete a fixed loop within the hour to continue.

Each lap measures 4.167 miles (6706 metres). A horn signals the start of each lap; runners who are not in the starting area when the horn sounds are disqualified. Runners must also start and cross the line within 30 seconds of the start signal and complete each loop before the clock reaches the next hour. No assistance is allowed on course and runners may not be assisted from their tents after beginning a lap. To win, a runner must start and finish a solo lap that no one else completes.

Event facilities include a camping area next to race headquarters, an indoor area with showers and changing rooms, WiFi and a USB charging station. A small aid station will offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, liquids, fruits, sweets and snacks, and extra tables are available for runners without a support crew. Every finisher receives a memento and the event offers a unique prize and a £150 cash prize for the winner.

Entries are limited to 100 places. Refunds of 50% are available until 26 July 2026 and places can be transferred until 1 August 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
