Cock-a-doodle Dawdle takes place on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at Hyde Hall Farm, Buntingford, SG9 0RU. The event has a maximum of 300 entrants. Entries close on 26 June 2026 and transfers close on 20 June 2026. Minimum age is 18 years. There are different event cut offs: a six-hour cut off for one start and a four-hour cut off for another start. Finishers receive a bespoke medal or, where offered, a lucky dip medal from previous events.

Course and facilities

The course is a trail event with some tarmac paths and grassland and is described as undulating. The route starts in the event base camp and uses the grounds at Hyde Hall Farm. Heavy Half is standardly five laps with the option to change to six or seven laps on the day. The Ultra is standardly nine laps with the option to increase up to 12 laps according to time available. A water aid station is located at the lap point. Parking is included and secure on site, with staff to direct vehicles and to the start area for number collection. A baggage area is provided. Trail runs nearby

Tackle 26.3 miles around Colworth Estate with five scenic laps of gently undulating trail and lanes, including woodland paths and narrow sections. Friendly club facilities, cup free so bring your own bottle, 30 November in Sharnbrook.

Run a scenic 10 mile trail around Grafham Water, weaving through woodland, Dragonfly Pond and Sanctuary Bay before a final mile along the dam wall. Canicross runs in a separate wave so you can bring your dog on a lead.

Race the Trifarm Winter 10k, the final round of a four event trail series at Trifarm near Boreham. Enjoy a mostly off road clockwise route away from the river and a championship deciding atmosphere with just 50 places available.

Take part in the Essex Vets XC Championships on 13 December 2025 in Epping Forest for a tough and scenic 8k on forest trails. Veteran races and team prizes across age groups; entries online only until 7 December.
