The Cock-a-doodle Dawdle takes place on 27 June 2026 at Hyde Hall Farm, Buntingford, SG9 0RU. The event is organised by Zig Zag Running, has a maximum of 300 entrants, and a minimum age of 18 years. Entries close on 26/06/2026 and transfers close on 20/06/2026. There is a six-hour event cut off; a shorter, four-hour cut off applies for a later start wave.

Course and facilities

The course starts at the event base camp and uses the farm grounds. It is a trail event that includes tarmac paths, grassland and trail sections. A standard heavy half is five laps with the option to change to six or seven laps on the day. A standard ultra is nine laps with the option to increase up to 12 laps within time available.

There will be a water aid station at the lap point, a baggage area, and on-site secure parking with a parking attendant to direct vehicles and number collection. The event is cupless; participants are expected to provide their own cup or bottle. A bespoke event medal will be issued at the finish; a lucky-dip medal option is also offered for some entries. Run 50 miles on an athletics track at Fireworks 50, a small field limited to 50 entrants with festival vibes, music, free tea and cake and a bespoke medal. Enjoy traffic free laps, aid stations and fireworks as dusk falls.
