Wilton Woods and Lazenby Bank East will host a regional orienteering event on Sunday 25th January 2026. Car sharing is available. The start is approximately a 5 - 10 minute walk from the car park. Very limited entry may be available on the day, subject to map availability and a surcharge.

Entry deadline is midnight on Sunday 18th January 2026. Late entries are accepted until midnight on Wednesday 21st January 2026; late entry may limit course choice by map availability and a £2 surcharge applies for seniors. A non-British Orienteering member surcharge of £2 applies.

  • Brown: 5.8 km, 240 m climb, 22 controls
  • Blue: 4.8 km, 250 m climb, 19 controls
  • Green: 3.8 km, 145 m climb, 12 controls
  • Short Green: 2.4 km, 100 m climb, 11 controls
  • Light Green: 1.9 km, 100 m climb, 9 controls
  • Orange: 2.2 km, 70 m climb, 8 controls
  • Yellow: 1.9 km, 90 m climb, 10 controls

  • Main Senior £10.00; Senior Novice £3.00; Junior/Student £3.00.
  • Senior chip hire £1.00; Junior/Student chip hire £1.00. From 19th January (late):
  • Senior £12.00; Senior Novice £5.00; Junior/Student £3.00. Notes: adults on the yellow and orange courses are charged the junior fee. Students aged 21 or over receive the junior fee when the student box is selected. Juniors are under 21 on 31st December.

Trail runs nearby

Join Scarborough Rock on 10 January 2026, a scenic LDWA East Yorkshire challenge offering 26 mile and 16 mile routes along coast and countryside. Checkpoints supply food and drink and finishers receive a badge, certificate and a meal.

A classic winter fell race in Commondale, North York Moors, featuring 8.3 km and 220 m of climb starting from the village hall. Entry on the day and a friendly winter series vibe make it ideal for adventurous runners.

Join a guided recce of the Hardmoors 55 on 17 January 2026, around 25 miles from Osmotherley to Helmsley with checkpoints and hot drinks at the finish. Not a race, groups are led by experienced run leaders with sweepers.

Join the Rise From The Ashes Run, a 7 hour timed trail along the River Wear with stunning Cathedral views, offering distances from a short 3 km up to marathon and ultra options. Finishers get a themed medal and goody bag with vegan choices.
