Event

The West Yorkshire Winter League (WYWL) is a team and individual cross country series held over six races between November and February. Races are organised by member clubs around West Yorkshire and are scored for individual and team awards. Distances are around 5 - 6 Miles on hilly, cross country courses. The organiser notes the courses are run over challenging terrain and are not suitable for blind runners.

Entry, rules and facilities

Entry is restricted to fully paid-up, affiliated members of the league clubs aged 17 and over. A season pass is priced at £20 and covers all six races; entries close on 31/10/2025. The entry limit is 1,000 with 505 places remaining at the time listed. Competitors must be affiliated to England Athletics or British Triathlon. Chip timing was introduced in 2024/25.

Individual awards are given for top finishers across male and female categories and five-year age bands; team awards include male, female, vets (35+), super vets (50+) and overall teams. Guest clubs are not eligible for team awards. Race rules include no headphones, no dogs, no refunds or transfers, and competitors enter at their own risk. Facilities are limited: toilets are available but there are no water stations, distance markers, changing rooms, showers, or baggage storage. Events are not suitable for wheelchair users.
