The Halifax Urban Trail takes place on 6 April 2026, starting at Shibden Hall in Halifax. The race is a trail route of just over 10K that runs along tracks and paths to Beacon Hill before descending into the town. The course passes through several landmark buildings on the route, including Halifax Minster, the Piece Hall, the Borough Market, the Dean Clough complex, and Halifax Town Hall where runners enter the Council Chamber. The event is described as the inaugural running of this urban trail format in Halifax. Proceeds support the local Calderdale hospice, Overgate, which is fundraising for a building project.
Entries and logistics
Entries open on 2 October 2025 and close on 1 April 2026. The event requires participants to be 18 or older on the event date. Entry fees are listed as £23 for UKA members and £25 for non-members. Entries recorded so far are 151 participants. If a participant needs to withdraw, the organiser requests notification by email so the place can be offered to another runner; withdrawn entrants may be offered a place in the 2027 event or the option to donate the entry to Overgate Hospice. In the event of cancellation, options offered include a place in the following year, donation of the entry fee to Overgate Hospice, or a refund.
