Halifax Urban Trail
The Halifax Urban Trail is an inaugural trail race held in Halifax on 6 April 2026. The course is a trail route of just over 10K that starts at Shibden Hall and travels along tracks and paths to Beacon Hill before descending into the town.
The route takes runners through several of Halifax’s landmark buildings. Planned stops on the course include Halifax Minster (Grade I listed), the Piece Hall, the town Borough Market, the Dean Clough complex and Halifax Town Hall where runners pass the borough Council Chamber. Several of these places are not normally open to the public.
Entries open 2 October 2025 and close 1 April 2026. The minimum age for entry is 18. Entry fees listed are £23 for UKA members and £25 for non members. The event is fundraising for the local Calderdale hospice Overgate and its building project.
To enter competitors must log in or register with the SiEntries system. If a runner withdraws they are asked to notify the organiser so the place can be offered to another runner; withdrawn entrants will be offered a place in the 2027 event or the option to donate their entry to Overgate Hospice. In the event of cancellation entrants will be offered a place in the following year, donation of the fee to Overgate Hospice, or a refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
